Sensational weather conditions and a hugely strong field saw records topple in the 9th annual Routeburn Classic, an exclusive adventure run staged on New Zealand’s world famous Routeburn Track.
Braden Currie from Wanaka smashed the previous record in the Peak Performance male category to complete the rugged 32km course in an outstanding 2hr 44min 29seconds, taking just over five minutes off last year’s record-setting winning time.

WINNING VICTORY FOR TEAM SEAGATE AT GODZONE ADVENTURE
Victory was golden tonight for New Zealand’s leading adventure racing squad, Team Seagate, who finished the Orion Health GODZone Adventure six day race in a time of three days,14 hours and 55 minutes (86.55mins). The elite racers held a significant margin over the rest of the field with nearly ten hours between them and second place competitors Team One Square Meal and more than a day ahead of the last full course teams arriving at 9.30pm.

Alison Shanks celebrated her second rainbow jersey with an emphatic victory in the individual pursuit to seal New Zealand’s most successful ever world track cycling championships.
Shanks dominated her final of the 3000m individual pursuit over old adversary Wendy Houvenaghel (GBR) to repeat the world championship title won in the same event in 2009.
